Expanded Story: When I first got to college, I realized something that shook me to my core. I was around guys from Florida, Georgia, Texas, places where D1 wasn’t a dream, it was the default. These dudes weren’t just talking about going D1, they were moving like they were already there. They trained twice a day, every day. They watched film like it was their favorite show. They expected nothing less than greatness from themselves and from everyone around them. Back in Connecticut, I was one of the best in my city. But down here? I was just another body on the field until I adjusted. It hit me, my environment never demanded this level of greatness, and because of that, I didn’t either. That changed real quick.
Lesson: Your environment defines your limits, until you redefine them. Surround yourself with people who expect you to win, or you’ll settle for surviving.
Call to Action: Tag the person in your life who expects more from you than you do from yourself. Let them know you’re listening. #RiseAboveAverage
