Saturday July 18th, 2015 Supreme Athlete hosted its 3rd Annual Alumni Flag Football game at Windsor HS stadium. Some onlookers were overheard saying the football gods have answered everyone’s prayers as the day was perfect for football with no signs of rain. The anticipation for the event have been growing since last year’s tournament.
The event was filled with smiles from children, old times, and new school players as everyone laughed and joked throughout the day. The music was provided by a Windsor Alumnus DJ Luv Her as she played the latest hits throughout the day. The talk of the day was the food, as Chef Tyqua had the mouth watery wings slamming. The teams that participated in this year’s alumni tourney were: Weaver, Windsor, HpHs, Bloomfield, Bulkeley, East Hartford, Manchester and New Britain HS. All week the chatter have been going back and forth between teams on social media. Last year’s champs Windsor HS guaranteed a repeat, but HpHs assured they would be back in the running.
The award ceremony for the book scholarship was presented by CEO Stack Williams and volunteer staff Brandon Williams. The winner of the 2015 book scholarship was Jedi Hayes of Windsor HS. Jedi Hayes will be attending Springfield College in the fall to pursuit football and continue expanding his educational horizons.
When it was all said and done, HARD HITTIN NEW BRITAIN prevailed over East Hartford in the championship and sweeping each team while having a record of 5 – 0 for the day. We would like to take our hats off to the NBHS squad on demonstrating class and getting the job done. The MVP of this year’s alumni tourney was awarded to the gun slinging scrambling QB in Chris Roberts for NBHS.
